Anyone here ever given thought to going to a dealer school? You still get the "vibe" of a casino, but the pay is steady and predictable.

I've never thought of it but even if I was to do this, it would have to be on a part-time basis. If the pay was good, I'd probably switch careers. I bet (pun intended) that are tons of dealer schools around, especially considering the fact that the demand for dealers is always rising.

I worked at a video poker place for a couple of years. It was exciting when I would see my regulars win but then sometimes I'd get jealous! We weren't allowed to play the machines at work so my coworkers and I would all go and play at the place down the road after work.

I understand that feeling but I guess you left the place much wiser and knowledgeable than anyone else. There's nothing as bad as dealing and getting to see other people win enormous amounts. It looks to me like the 'dangling carrot' concept. I guess you won some good amount down the road?

Sounds like fun but the "dangling carrot" would be a little hard to take. Seeing other people win would be hard day in and day out. I would be jealous too. Standing on my feet for hours at a time would probably keep me from becoming a dealer.
