General What is the psychological reason to Gamble?

There have been many studies done to discern what goes through a person's mind and makes them want to gamble away their money. Is it the need to risk one's money for a potential gain? Or, is it just fun?

I can't speak for everyone, but for me it's a combination of the thrill of it and the anticipation of a win, plus it's a fun pastime.
Hitting a big win is an added bonus of course!

For me, it's just fun. I don't think my mind needs to be picked apart either, just to find something that isn't there. There isn't some deep seated issue left unresolved that makes me sit down and play poker and throw some Benjamins around. I do it because I like to do it. I understand that these people who do these studies need to make a living like everyone else, but leave me out of it.
