Slots Skilled based slots

This may be a new development in the slots arena but then, has anyone ever heard of these? I'd assume that this has more to do with skill and tactics, as opposed to sheer luck.

Nope. Not heard of skill based slots before - I thought the whole point of the slots was that they were random and so your outcome was based purely on chance?
Unless I am missing the point, having slots based on some kind of skill level goes completely against that?

What kind of skill would be required to win at a slot machine? I have not heard of this type of machine and I don't think I would like it. I like sitting at a machine and trying my luck, I don't want to think about anything while playing.

Ha, yes that is absolutely spot on - I don't want to think about anything while playing.

I just tend to zone out while I play. If I'm having a good run, I daydream about what I could buy and do with my winnings, if I'm having a bad run, well I'm too busy cursing to be able to concentrate on anything!

They are testing skill based slots in some areas. I expect it will catch on to some degree, but it will not replace RNG slots

Already there are video arcades will similar games. But there will never be games that deliberately give players an edge from skill alone. If anything an algorithm will make it harder and harder to win, and the edge will always be with the casino.

To call this a slot machine is to give people the wrong impression. It's the casino version of a self-checkout lane at a supermarket. Self-checkouts do away with the need for a cashier, skilled based slots do away with the need for a dealer.

It's just a computerized way to play the game. I'm not seeing the point in this.

Oh I see now. This is not the way I thought the machine would be. I was thinking it would be something besides a card game. I guess this would be good for someone that doesn't want to play cards at a table.

No, I have never heard of this either. I don't believe that the casinos will ever make it more than a slight amount of winning for the patrons. There is simply no skill involved except to watch people play the machine and you take over when they leave. Some people win a lot that way.

Oh I see. Haha, Sorry but I had completely misunderstood what you had meant by it. Me and my crazy imagination going wild and coming up with the wrong thing again!

This (pretty much) explains it all, besides giving a clearer picture. I had gotten the wrong impression at first. If its main difference would be the lack of a dealer, I'd be more interested in the advantages that come with it.

So would I, and a shit-ton of others. I'm having a hard time with the reasoning behind why casino's are doing this. Except maybe to bring change to the game floor just for the sake of making a change.

Profits would be the only reason that a casino would do anything that involves changing things. Everything has a cost and dealers have one as well. Not only are they paid, they have errors that cost money, etc. It might be advantageous to a casino to eliminate them.
