Apart from the Greyhounds and Border Collies, has anyone ever heard of The Saluki breed?

It has been said before that they are faster than the Greyhounds so I'm just curious to know if it is common to see them in races?

The Saluki is actually relatively as fast as the Greyhound, but they are more specialized for longer distances. They seem to be popular around the Western Asia region, such as UAE, where they are often entered in races (such as this one).

Perhaps this is the single reason why you won't see this breed in dog races?

In fact, I've never been to a race where there were any other breeds apart from the Greyhounds.

I had no idea there were any other dog breeds apart from the Greyhounds.

In this case then, is there a dog race that the Saluki breed thrives in?

This is really interesting. It stands to reason that other breeds would be capable of something like this. After all, huskies run the Ididarod. I've never heard of this breed, though, and have only been to races that involved greyhounds.
