Horse & Dog Looking at the trap draw

I'd like to know if trap draws are conducted prior to betting in dog racing? I want to believe that this has a bearing on the choice of bets. For instance, if a dog has shown better running form while running in trap 1, then it may prove a bit difficult if trap 5 is allocated to it and so if you're placing the bet on this dog winning, it is first important to know which trap will be allocated to it.

If a dog is used to racing in a particular trap, then I think there is a tendency to get used to it. However, aren't the trap draws done every other time there is a race? If this is the case, would there be a bias in the trap allocated to a particular dog?
