The latest jackpot winner in our city has promised to build a sports academy as a way of giving back to the community. That would consume a huge chunk of his winnings. I don't think it's a wise thing to do.
Giving back to the community is a good thing but I don't see how building an academy can be a good idea. You will need to equip it with facilities and incur recurrent expenditure. Most winners do give back in other less expensive but tenable ways.
Most winners (especially those who win the Jackpot) always give back. Promising to build an academy is being too ambitious (in my view). Perhaps your friend is still in shock because he must have won a lot of money.
