Hey guys, I just got done replying to a thread about gut vs instinct and it made me wonder how often people do research. So my question for you all is do you research before betting?

It depends. For football or something where I have time to plan ahead, then yes I'll check the form, weather, history of teams against each other, and so on. For something like the dogs where there are a lot of fast races in quick succession and it is more fun than making money, then it is down to a quick check on the dogs' details, any notes at the betting office and place the bets. The amount of research may vary but I don't like betting with no info at all.

I have to completely agree with you @Tolly. This is actually what makes me place wagers a few hours before a game of football starts.

A lot changes before the d-day. Dependable players missing out definitely changes the game's outcome. Research is important and we all agree it doesn't work always.

Hey Tolly and Zohan, you guys are totally right. Not doing any type of research could be costly, even though it doesn't always benefit you.
