Lots of casinos offer a daycare service where they will take care of your children so that you can gamble. Most of them are fun for the children with games and snacks etc. What do you think about them? Do you use them? I have used them before with my family. We all go out and gamble and let the kids play for a while, they love it and we get to gamble!

That's it........start 'em young. There's nothing like your 5 year old tugging your arm asking "Can I go see the wheel you cuss at all the time daddy?" :D

But I don't think it's a bad idea as long as we keep them away from the booze, cigarette smoke and lounge lizards. Casino's are more family friendly these days.

The daycare area is so far away from the gambling area that the kids have no idea what it looks like. I would never bring my child into the gambling area, number one it's illegal! It's a huge play area that all the kids enjoy far away from everyone gambling.

I agree that casinos are more family-friendly these days, however, taking your children to a casino really doesn't sit well with me. I would prefer to gamble while my kids are in school or with friends. It is just something I don't think my kids need to know about me.

Looks like a really good thing but doesn't this (somewhat) encourage or introduce kids to gambling at an early age? I am keen to know what research has to say about whether kids that are exposed to gambling arenas are more likely to get into gambling, in the long run.

Wow, I thought this kind of thing was all over the place. I guess it is more common were I am from. The daycare center is not near the gambling area and when we bring our kids they have no idea what the adults are doing. We go and eat at the buffet, which is far from the gambling floor and then bring them to the daycare area which they call the fun zone. The kids think it's a treat to go and are not exposed to gambling in any way.

I'm another one who has never heard of this!
I don't think I would be comfortable leaving my kids in a casino daycare. Even though they are nowhere near the gambling floor, I would be worried that they would say "we went to a casino" to a teacher or another parent!!

I understand the scenario but for how long will this go on before the kids actually know that their parents go to gamble? This way, they'll have a better reason to get into gambling. I'd rather leave them at home.

If i was a 'gambler', Id be ashamed of myself leaving kids in Casino daycare. Its not like you're watching a movie. It just seems wrong.

Is it really any worse than leaving your kids with a babysitter to go to the casino? If you do leave them with a sitter do you tell them you are going somewhere else?

If I left them with a baby sitter, I don't think I'd tell the baby sitter where I was going! It isn't really relevant where I'm going - so long as they can contact me in an emergency, I can go where I want!!

Well I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I am not embarrassed to go to the casino and I wouldn't lie about it. People gamble everyday and as long as it's done responsibly I don't have a problem with my kids knowing where I am at and what I am doing. It you feel the need to hide it, then I think that's where a problem can form.
