Baccarat Can you count cards?

Does card counting actually work in this game? I've been told that there was a study done and it doesn't work, that your best bet is to look at the bank or the players to bet against. Is there maybe a different way to count the cards and these other people just weren't doing it right?

The fact of the matter is that whereas you can use card counting, this is never a strategy with much surety. For the player bet to achieve profitability for example, the card count must be over 235 which in most cases is usually unlikely whereas for the banker bet, the card count has to be less than -200.

Counting cards is extremely difficult and requires someone to be a mathematical genius. You need to have the ability to process information very quickly and also have a great memory at the same time. Regardless of whether or not it actually works, it's a technique that the vast majority of gamblers just can't do. You'd be better off putting energy into other techniques.

From what I've found online, it doesn't seem like there is a working card counting system. Perhaps this is due to the number of cards/decks involved. Henry Tamburin found that the best bet was almost always Bank. Well, it might be possible for someone with genius-level IQ!

I read up on card counting a fair bit a while ago. And it absolutely blew my mind!! Seriously, it just seemed to be an impossible thing to do!
Hats off to anyone who gives it a try though.
