A lot of what's normally depicted in the movies about gambling is a life revolving around money, prestige and uncertainty. I believe that there's definitely more than meets the eye. What (about a gambler's life) is often hidden from the public? Do gamblers ever suffer from depression?

There's this neighbour of ours who lives purely on sports betting. It's what he feeds his family with. His is a normal life, just like is typical of any other full time profession but above all, he's a mathematical genius and the calmest person in the neighbourhood. I admire his lifestyle a great deal.

Like any profession now, Gambling can be turned into a livelihood.
Gambling up to these days leave a very bad aura to the majority, this may be due to movies, media and person who suffers severe mental/undisciplined action by other gambler.

Yes, gambling turns out to be just like any other profession. You require discipline, tenacity and consistency to succeed. I don't think what we see in the movies is a true picture of gambling in general. There are gamblers who are serious investors and they go about their life just like everyone else.

The best way to know what gambling revolves around and/or the activities that gamblers engage in is by observing what a pro does. In my view, the movie industry paints gambling in bad light and mostly associates it with the 'bad boys'.
