Im not new to forums. Ive been around but to be honest I dont usually bother on forums because usually the admin lets a few trolls run amok. Most admins are too weak to do anything and the same guys move between forums. I mean the troublemakers. They spread to other forums and degrade it, they get banned and ruin another forum. I think the admin embraces the new members who then turn away potentially good members. Whats left is a bunch of trolls who are full of shit and little useful conversations take place.
I joined a few other forums in the past year. One was just full of inexperienced toddlers. Waste of time. Another looked very promising but became too quiet. I remain hopeful it can pick up because it was looking to be the best forum. And another allowed flame wars between competing forums. Some of it even involved this sites admin. The admin there is terrible. Either was responsible for discrediting Steve as part of a forum war, or allowed open season on Steve to help his own forum. Maybe both. Not the kind of thing I want to be part of.

What do I expect from this site? I know Steve runs forums well. I read the rules and IMO it sounds a bit unmoderated. You need to attract good people, with good intentions, then you dont need to moderate. Do you need to moderate a group of mature people?
A forum doesnt need secrets in the open. They are never in public. You just need to cater for and invite the right people. Then beneficial information in exchanged and the forum becomes more than flame wars.
So heres hoping this can be a great forum.
