We hear about people getting kicked out of casino's for counting cards. But what if someone does that, wins in excess of $10,000, cashes out and leaves before getting caught? And then upon reviewing the camera's, the casino determines that the person did, indeed count cards, can the casino claim theft and call the police?

Can this be punishable by law?

From what I understand you can't really go to jail for counting cards. The casino can ban you from the property though. If you are caught back in the same casino you can go to jail for trespassing.

How can they really prove that you are counting cards? There is no physical proof other than your winnings, right? Maybe you were having a lucky night. If you don't look too obvious and only win now and then, what's the harm other than the casinos don't like it?

Experienced people know how to count cards just by looking. That's why you see people being ejected out of the table when everything is going on. Either way, I don't see how a casino can follow up on someone's winnings after reviewing footage. They could only use such proof to bar such players from ever getting into their premises.

This topic has come up before with some friends of mine. They don't count but they know people that do. My question is can other card counters tell if you are doing it too? Are there some tells that emerge when counting? I've never seen anyone do it. Sounds cool!

Same here, I've never seen anyone do it or heard of anyone who can. But then I guess you only hear about it when the person gets caught!

I believe that card counters can tell when one or more players are cheating. In fact, I believe that casinos hire people that can tell apart the people involved in card counting. However, I don't see this as such a big deal because card counting has never been proved to automatically result in wins.
