Most gambling is legal in my state and we have lots of casinos around. My brother in law and sister travel here to gamble because it is not legal in their state. Is gambling legal in the state that you live in? Do you have to travel out of state to gamble? Just curious to see how many of you have to travel to gamble.

I live in New Mexico and the casinos are only on Indian Reservation Lands. The difference between here and Las Vegas is that alcoholic drinks are not served at the machines. If you want a drink, you have to go to the bar and drink it.

Really? No drinks at the machines? Here the servers walk around serving drinks at the machines, it's rare to have to go to the bar for a drink. I guess they think if you are drinking you are putting more money in the machines.

I relate with the last part of this since I always prefer to catch a drink at the bar. Having said that, gambling is legal in my state and it is rare to hear of places where it is prohibited. I tend to think that it would be hectic if I had to travel in order to play.

Countries are being railroaded into gradually legalizing online gambling especially. Its all still speeding up. I'm against gambling but don't believe it should be illegal, ie only legal for big corporations. But it still should be closely regulated. And the advertising for it should not be allowed on tv, or at least there should be a heavier tax on casino revenue with funds going directly back into the community. Of course in the real world that doesn't happen

I guess there isn't much we can do in as far as controlling how much advertising (about gambling) we can have on-screen. There are many other mediums as well, through which these companies can still popularize it. Responsible betting, in my view, is what we should be encouraging.

Yes, it sure is different when I go to Las Vegas and get drinks free right at the machine. I tend to drink too much as well. The waitresses tend to keep you stocked up with plenty of beverages to keep that money flowing. Shoot, NM makes you pay for the drinks at the bar.

Yes June they make sure you always have a full drink with you! My sister and brother in law come in to go to the casino because there are no casinos where they live. We always end up gambling and drinking way too much!
