General Do casinos have better mechanims to avert fraud?

Around 2012, there was a scam that involved around 50-70 people. It is really shocking that people could pull this off so easily. They'd walk into a casino then enter the game with low bets (sometimes as low as $1 per chip).

As one player distracted the dealer, another would pocket certain colored chips. They would then use these chips at a table assigned a higher colour to the chip's colour, then cash out.

This was such a big scam and it is estimated that they'd pick up between $1,000 to $2,000 per scam. I guess the casinos have better mechanims now?

Whenever I hear such stories, I often wonder how creative some people can be with scams. It wouldn’t be easy to pull such moves now, seeing that this happened about 5 years ago. There’s better surveillance and improved security in most casinos.

True, there's better surveillance and security at the casino, for anyone to pull such stunts. I would assume that such a scam involves a lot of people, as pulling such a thing off isn't easy.

I would say that there seems to be more fraud and identity theft in online casinos as compared to the brick and mortar ones.

Gamblers should always ensure that they read the security section online, especially with issues to do with protecting your identity. Casino policies have to strictly protect your financial or bank account details.

I would be surprized if anyone pulled such a stunt in this day and age. The casinos seem more secure and less accessible to fraudsters. Like @clyne mentions, there's greater risk when playing online. There are millions of scammers who sit behind keyboards, whilst trying out every trick in the book.
