I read a post about tips on winning the lottery from someone who claims that he has won seven times. He says to divide the budget for several tickets in a row of the same game and never buy the quick picks. What do you think?

Hard to believe he won several times. Most of the time winning the lottery is a once in a life time. If a player happens to win more than one it is very rare and most of the time prize pots are not big enough.

I've won the lottery a few times myself, but it's always a very small amount. I'm still hoping for the big one one of these days and if there are any real tips to help increase my odds then I'm very happy to hear them and try them out for myself.

I know there was a guy who worked out that while you couldn't buy enought tickets to guarantee a winning ticket on the lottery, you could buy enough to get enough second and third tier prizes to ensure a profit when you played. I'd need to dig the story out again. He picked the numbers to maximise his win chances across all the tickets.

Edited to add: Found it. It was an MIT group, and they made about 20% profit a draw.

I think that is statistically possible but you would have to know the right kind of system to get that done. I think I'll check that post out. I might learn something interesting.

Was that Richard Lustig who won the lottery seven times? He's never shared his system.

Some people say you should play numbers that are rarely picked by players, like ones over 31 because anyone using birthdays will be using numbers under that. The odds of winning are the same, but you are less likely to have to share your winnings so you get more.
