Roulette Who invented the roulette wheel?

Blaise Pascal, a French physicist, actually invented it but interestingly, he wasn't doing this with the casino game in mind. He was actually trying to invent a perpetual motion machine. Though it comes as no surprize that a mathematician/physicist is responsible for the discovery, it is appalling that it gave birth to the modern game.

Pascal is popularly credited with it, but there's an article here that goes into depth about its origins and says it is unknown. I didn't know there had been early versions that were banned, like Even/Odd. It can't have been as much fun as roulette with such limited choices to bet on.

That article is quite detailed and mind-boggling. I agree that roulette wouldn't have been fun with such limited choices. It's good that it's really evolved over the years.
