If you could mentor someone who wanted to learn how to play (and become really good at) roulette, what is the best piece of advice you would give them?

I would advise them to take their time and learn as much as they can about the game before risking their money and not to expect this to be a get rich quick scheme.

The same advice I would give any beginner, which is learn to stay calm and focus. If you can get caught up in the heat of things and stop thinking rationally, you're going to lose money. Before you actually gamble, spend time in various casinos and get used to the atmosphere and how they play so you don't get distracted when you are actually playing.

Very true guys. Before attempting to make real money, it is best to have a few spins on a free table. This will help in getting a better understanding and confidence. Also, concentrate on the European wheel and abstain from the American one.

That's great advice for noobs, but why stay away from European wheels? I'm not sure I understand the difference between the two. Can anyone here elaborate for me?

@kenzow suggested focusing on the European wheel rather than the American one. That's probably because the odds are better in the European game. There's only one 0 and some of the rules on outside bets give the player more advantage.

Very much so. The odds are better with the European wheel whilst the house edge is lower, so to speak. A beginner should never believe those people who claim that it is not easy to win in Roullete.

My advice for you is advice that could work for anything new that you do. Don't jump in too quickly. You need to familiarize yourself with the game first and watch others before you just go for it.

I would advise them to spend time every single day working on their gambling psychology even if it's just a few minutes of thinking and meditating or whatever it takes to get you into that calm place where you can keep a clear head when making decisions.
