Roulette Using the Martingale system?

The Martingale system is the oldest betting system out there, and works by each time a player loses they bet again with twice the amount until they win, then start over at the minimum again. I don't use it (you can run into the house maximum bet before it pays out, and you still lose long-term) but I've seen a lot of people apply it to roulette. Do you, or would you, use this or a modified version to bet on roulette?

I would never use martingale, ever! You will only lose in the long run because the only way it can really work is if you don't limit it as in the case of the maximum house bet.

I've used the Martingale system a few times myself and I think that you will win more often than you will lose money when you limit yourself to only Martingaling your bet twice and no more than that.

Stay far, far away from the Martingale system. A lot of people have lost all of their previous winnings and even more trying to martingale their way out of a series of losing trades. It just doesn't work.

Seriously, the Martingale system doesn't work. Because it is simple, it is the first system people hear about and try to apply. If it worked, there'd be a lot of bankrupt casinos. Long term, the house odds will always catch up with you.

That is my sentiment exactly, Sevens. The sad part is that people will keep trying it even though the odds are against it working. Martingale will only work if you have unlimited funds but then like Sevens said, you could run into the house max bet before then and you'd lose.
