Sports Think about these things guys

I have been keen on sports betting for quite a while and here are a few tips for the so-called 'beginners';

1. Make sure you understand your sport inside out.
2. There are the less obvious markets and it might be a good idea to consider these.
3. Love your sport but don't follow your heart all the time.
4. Always remember that the favourite doesn't always win.
5. You are better off with fewer selections at any point.

Happy betting folks!

I agree that it isn't a good thing to follow your heart when betting. I once believed that my team was going to win with a very big margin.

I placed wagers and lost terribly. That was a lesson learnt, albeit the hard way. You raise really valid points nonetheless.

Dante7, I think that's some really great advice. Point number four is definitely the most valid. It sucks and hurts so bad when the favorite loses, but it happens.

Exactly. There's a friend of mine who loves placing wagers against his team so that he remains happy either way. By doing this, either he wins his bet and his favourite team loses, or vice versa. This is superb of him, don't you think?

Point number two has caught my eye. Less obvious markets, you say? Just out of curiosity, can you name a few less obvious markets that you are referring too?

I think that that's extremely smart of your friend. He's putting his love for his team aside and using his brain when betting. Something a lot of people can't do.

I stand corrected but to me, the less obvious markets are probably the bets that are neither a straight win for the home win or a double chance (saying placing a bet where you are chancing on the stronger team either winning or drawing). A less obvious outcome would probably be choosing a bet that predicts that the total number of goals in a football game will be 6 or more.

I agree with the point about having fewer selections at a time. It is much easier to win in this way. I see some people who win by placing 10 or so selections at a time. Nonetheless, this doesn't happen frequently.
