There are two general lines of thought, you can enjoy it the same way you do an amusement park and trade your money for a good time. Or, some still think it is a sin due to the contradiction with the bible teachings of thrift, hard work and sober living. What do you think?

Depends on your definition of "sin". If you mean harm to yourself, sure gambling is a sin. It would harm your family too if they depend on you. Despite working in the industry, i'm strongly against "gambling". Calculated and proper advantage play is a business decision and investment - a very different thing.
