Sports Same rule all over?

The site I use for football betting only validates results for games played under normal time and I am just wondering if this is a rule applied all over? For instance, I placed a bet on Manchester United beating Hull away and lost since although the former ended up winning, the lone goal was scored in extra time.

Is there a reason why betting sites only validate results achieved within normal time? Who does this benefit after all?

It sounds to me like you were betting on European football (soccer), correct? I've never bet on sports outside of the U.S. and I'm curious to know if this is a rule of thumb with betting on sports in other countries.

I normally bet on games in almost all leagues around the world and I have never seen this rule applied differently. I think it has more to do with the betting side being used by the player, rather than the league itself. I presume that most sites apply this rule in order to make things less complicated for the gamblers.

A league game is classed as being a 90-minute game regardless of how much extra time there is. Bookmakers pay out regarding the result when the referee blows the final whistle. I've never heard of a bookmaker not paying out due to injury time goals being scored. Cup games are different with there being a choice of results, full time, extra time, and penalties.

I did not know that cup games were a little bit different. I have also never heard of any bookmaker basing the results on goals scored after extra time. I think sports betting offers a lot of options and at times players concentrate on straight bets with lower odds.
