I was just wondering, what are some of the superstitions that some players hold in roulette and do you happen to have any that you hold yourself?

If you mean lucky numbers and the like, I don't believe in those. About the only one I hold is that if I spot a biased wheel, that is lucky! It might only be a temporary pattern until they fix it, or someone moves a heavy drink, but it is a way to tip the odds for the evening.

I really don't have any superstitions when it comes to Roulette. Some days I may think one number is luckier than another, but that's as far as my superstition goes.

Many people believe that the results of a previous spin have a bearing on the result of the next spin. For instance, if the colour black has come up 7 times in a row, some people believe that betting on a red will be good idea.

The thinking behind this is that getting 8 black results in a row is unlikely. This whole thinking goes against the concept of independent events.

I don't play roulette, but I think the biggest superstition, or myth is what luckysam mentioned. A lot of people tend to think that the spin results can be
related, while every spin is an independent event and the odds are the same.

Luckysam and seena, yes you're right about some people having that superstition of the spin results being related to all the other spins before it. I have a friend who believes this.

From my experience of gambling in a casino I'd say that there have been times when I started losing consistently and it was as if I knew I had outstayed my welcome.
Now, I know that if I feel that I'm tired, or negative or I'm not enjoying being at the tables I must leave. Is this superstition? I don't think so. It's more like an inner knowing.
Usually the body knows directly when time is up, but it's the silly mind that says: "oh no, that's just imagination, let's look at it logically... if I do this and that ... it will be OK!..."
Always listen to your intuition. AND stay away from people with a negative energy about them. They can easily infect you with their negative thoughts. That goes for all walks of life, not just casinos.

As far as I know, superstitions don't work and they are just 'creative' ways that people try to use in an attempt to win. I hear a lot of people talk about spin results being interrelated but I'd call that more of a myth than a superstition.

I have never believed in superstitions ever since I started gambling. They can get into your head and ruin your play. I prefer to be as less distracted as possible when in the casino.
