I stand corrected but I believe the minimum legal age for gambling is 18 years. With the rise in online gambling sites, how easy will it be to regulate it?

It's true that the minimum age is 18 for most casino games, but some games like the lotteries or football pools accept 16 year olds.

I'm not really familiar with online gambling rules but is there anything like age verification when logging into these sites? I think there might be a problem if a user registers as a 18-year old, wins a jackpot then it turns that they are much younger than that. That would be a big problem, or wouldn't it be so?

Most of the casinos need a credit card, and some take SSN, driver's licence, etc, so players have to be old enough just to sign up to play. They check cash out requests against personal details to prevent someone cashing out by fraud. If a teenager used their parents' details, then they'd have real explaining to do and face prosecution!

Let's be honest, there is no way of really regulating gambling online. The truth is that as parents we know that our cards could be used by our children to access these sites without our knowing, and even if the child did win the jackpot, do you think the parent would say it's not them?

I regulate my children. I look at their browsing history often and we have many discussions about it, believe me. If more parents took an active role in their child's life and entertainment preferences, there wouldn't be a problem at all.
