I have heard it said that for anyone to be an expert in anything they have to put in over 10,000 hours studying the particular subject. Do you think this is true of poker as well?

I think that the amount of time you need to become an expert at anything varies greatly. I'm not sure how long it would take for a person to become an expert at poker.

I have to agree. That would greatly depend on how good you are at learning and implementing the things that you learn into your game. That number seems a bit arbitrary to me.

10,000 hours is a guideline, yes. However, I don't think it applies to every single thing you want to learn. It depends on a lot of factors; like your dedication, how fast you learn etc.

Seena, I agree with you one hundred percent. There are so many factors and variables when it comes to learning things that there is no set amount of time set in stone to learn or become a pro at something.
