Craps My intro to how I play (dice setting)

Dice setting is controlling shoots. When you start out, its a scary game because people hang on your shoot.

So you throw two dice accross the table, and they need to hit the table and bounce of rubber bumpers at the end. Yeah yeah you can never control the dice right? Until you spend enough time actually doing it, youll never know. Hell yeah it can be done. But you wont learn it from courses you buy. I spent around 10k on courses and really none of them worked how they should. I had to create my own table replica and try for myself. Dont waste money on courses. You will get the same information mostly for free, then the rest comes down to learning and doing it for yourself.

I would like to hear from other dice setters, How long have you played? What course you tried? Which have you found are any good? Do you have your own table? What edge are you getting?

Have you ever run into trouble where casino operators or staff forbid you from shooting?

Wouldn't the best dice setters be ambidextrous?

I tried it a few times but I really stunk up the place. Lost a bit of money too. :-[

I dont think that would make much of a difference. Of course you'd need to throw a certain way with consistency, but the technique itself would be most important.

I get flak from people all the time thinking it doesnt work. It does work and it just needs to be done right. Some of the arguments naysayers use is there was a test where a researcher used a mechanical arm robot to throw dice in the same way with very strict standards. The researcher concluded an edge was possible with extremely strict standards (shooting the same way) but to the point where it was unrealistic for a human to do.

Then there's another guy, Steve Forte, who did research by dropping dice straight down onto the table in a similar controlled manner. And he found results were random. Here's where he went wrong. If you drop dice straight down onto a flat side, it could bounce any way. Just the slightest bit of tilt on the drop can make the dice go one way or another. That's random.

But dice setting requires rolling on a particular axis of the dice. If Steve Forte thought about it a little, he would have found the rolling forward is a much more reasonable approach.

The people who criticize dice setting probably never tried it themselves. It does work but like I said its something you need to do for yourself. I havent found any courses that tought me the important parts of what I know today.

I'm sure you know what you're doing and that it works for you, I just don't understand the theory behind it. If a die isn't weighted in any way, the only way I see a throw being controlled is if you don't shake them in your hand, they are facing up in a particular number set and you throw with the exact same velocity and angle every time.

Interesting but surely the casino wouldnt let you constantly throw the same way. And they rotate the shooters al the time so you would have like one shot to get it right then someone else takes over. At least thats how I assume it works. Im more of a horse racing and poker machine gambler. I dont live near any casinos and dont like the atmosphere in them anyway. If I can make money at my local phb with pokies or with horse racing then that would suit me fine. Gambling on sports has gotten big here in past few years so thats a possibility for me too.

I havent had any problems like that. Just dont play when its too busy, or when there are too few players. You need somewhere in between.

Critics will always be there anyway, no matter what you do. The important thing is to keep doing what you do best. There are many free resources out there (be they on YouTube or generally on the internet) so there is no point in paying up on any course whatsoever.

I've never thrown dice in a gambling fashion before, but I would definitely love to learn. I have heard of many people relying on superstitions like women blowing on the dice to get a favorable roll. It almost seems as though only an enchantment could guarantee that one rolls what they want at will.

I cant say I've ever blown on dice before. I could try it, but might get banned.

I dont believe in luck. Luck is for when you have no control. But you do have some control in craps which is why I prefer it.

I started playing the game back in the 60s , I have gone thru a couple of evolution's . I stumbled into a situation with an old gentleman who decided it would be a good idea to help me . I spent a lot of time with him , he helped me a lot over several years.
One thing I did was to buy a craps table from a Vegas casino so I could practice . Over the years I have had several
I have two in my home at present , one in my living room and one in the garage , I spend time practicing on a regular basis
I find that practicing helps me to maintain my game

Like you , I don't believe in luck , I believe in preperation and doing the work

You can only roll dice in hopes to avoid the seven... because even the DI shooters make numerous variety of numbers... and other time they PSO. Luck also plays a big roll in dice setting / numbrs rolled.

It’s a huge part of the game if you want to learn how to be a good shooter angle and keeping the dice together as long as you can, before the bounce is huge,I really recommend buying a few books to study many peoples angles on the game never can be to informed
