General Emotional betting

I think we all know we should leave emotion out of the equation when betting, but I'm sure everyone has had a time or two when emotion won out over logic. Do you have any examples of when you've let feelings control your decision at the gaming table?

We should strive to put aside emotions but interestingly, this is a lesson that's normally learned the hard away.

I cannot recall a specific incident at the gaming table. Nonetheless, many are the times I have placed wagers on a certain team, horse or dog, simply because this was my preference.

A gambler needs to remain level-headed at all times.

It probably happens to me most often in horse racing when I choose a horse based on a name or something silly like that. I'm very well versed in reading the program and I know all about studying bloodlines, past racing performances, drivers, etc., but I still make an emotional decision at the track once in a while.

Count me in with the horse racing crowd. I'll go to the track and see a horse that looks like one I owned or I'll have a connection with a name and that'll be the end of it. I've been going to tracks since I was a little kid, so I definitely know better, but I think when there is a living thing involved on the other end of the bet, it's easy to get emotional.

I completely relate to this. At times, emotions set in when there's little time to do research or look at the statistics and trends.

I remember a time I was at the racing track and I overheard a couple discussing a particular horse I had placed wagers on.

I had merely looked at its appearance but the truth of the matter was that it had not raced well in the previous 5 races.
