I have a quick question here which might seem a little dumb... Do I need to download any software in order to be able to play poker online?

Most of the online casinos I know don't use downloaded software because of the risk it can be tampered with, and their security compromised through it. You just need a secure and up-to-date browser, and I'd suggest a good anti-virus.

I concur with this but again ask, is there a secure browser nowadays? My brother recommended a certain browser called 'Torch' which has a lot of similarities to Google Chrome but I'm not sure whether to use the word 'safe'. I'm not very fond of online casinos though.

I think it's worth educating yourself about these things if you intend on playing a lot of online games, but personally I think I would rather just skip all that hassle and stick with the live games.

It's a good thing that it's not necessary to download your own software when you want to play online, but I also would stress the importance of having a really good antivirus installed in your computer.

I've never had to download any kind of software in order to play any game online, but then again, I'm not a really avid online casino player so I don't know for sure whether there are any that insist on this.

Typically, you don't have to download any type of software to play online. If a site is asking you to download software, I'd be very cautious and do research first, because you could be at risk for downloading viruses and things such as that.

I'm not sure about using Torch for this, because Torch has a lot of torrent and data-sharing features built in. It might be good for browsing, but I wouldn't want to share my credit card number or casino logins over it!

So what is the safe way to do it, really? Is it either play online without downloading anything or don't play at all if that's not an option?
