Casinos Do you think it is possible or advisable to restrict online gambling?

This is a pretty wide open topic. Can we restrict it? I think that there are so little restrictions on the internet as a whole, that it would be pretty hard to restrict gambling online. Companies would just move their operations to a country with more positive rules for gambling. Should we restrict it? There are probably the same arguments for restriction here. Maybe we should restrict it, but after all, the companies would just move the operations to a more friendly location. After all, can you really stop anyone from doing what they want especially considering the vastness of the internet?

Online gambling is legalized and licensed in most countries and even if restriction was to happen, I think this would be perhaps be caused by a failure to get rid of underage gambling. There has been greater pressure from authorities to the gambling companies with an aim of having more elaborate mechanisms of age verification.

It is too late in the game to restrict it in my opinion. Regulators in Washington are never proactive when it comes to this sort of thing. They pass bills and laws in response to something that already happened. They have no foresight to see what will probably happen, and make laws to curtail things proactively.

Japan only legalized gambling in their country in December of last year. It is going to take until December of this year for the Japanese legislation to have everything in order before anyone even starts building a casino or setting up a Japanese based online casino. If Washington was as proactive as Japan is being right now, we wouldn't be talking about all the restrictions that we need to put into place.

They would already be there.

I know that it is restricted in some states and the sites are not allowed to have players from certain states play for money on their sites. It's funny because most of the states with this restriction have casinos!

Now that you have mentioned Japan, I am imagining the craze that will hit the country casinos start coming up. I agree with you when you mention that legislation ought not be something that regulators rush over. If it isn't streamlined from the beginning, gambling can end up being a nightmare!

I totally agree with you guys about regulation being a nightmare waiting to happen. Restrictions for underage gamblers will be a hard thing to enforce even though I would agree with it. Governmental regulations are everywhere and will even affect gambling......
