Hey guys, I just realized that just like football or basketball fans, their may be poker fans/players who idolize someone else in the game. Do you have any poker idols, and if so how did you come across them?

I don't have any, yet, but as I'm researching and learning more and more about the game, there are a few faces and names that consistently keep popping up and I'm sure it won't be long before I pick a favorite. Who's your idol, Club_Me?

My idol is John Juanda. There are a couple of others that I like, like Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth but John is my favorite by far. He's not necessarily the best, but there is just something about his play that really resonates with me.

I think that Dan Bilzeruan would be my idol if I had to pick someone. I think that he is one of the best poker players out there and I think people underestimate him because of his good looks.

hope that is irony :) if not I recommend you checking out this video where one of the world's top players at the moment recently analyzed him his game pretty nicely and the conclusion is....

here is the video:

by the way the guy who talks here just a few days ago won 3,5mln dollars on the World Series of Pokers, so he definitely knows what he is talking about :)

and regarding poker idols- I would go for Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

I don't have any Poker idols yet but I'm sure over time, there will be some that I will be looking up to. What would make you idolise someone? Their style of play, character or the cumulative amounts they have won?

It is normal to have idols or people we can look up to. I am still at the intermediate stages of a Poker player but I guess over time, there are certain people I will definitely want to learn from.

Why you need Idols for, I never understood (without offense) why you should watch someone wins and be happy without experiencing same thing or something common for yourself! ;)

I can't say that I have any idols there are such a lot of players who play well and I like to watch they are playing. For example Negreanu, Ivey, Dwan, Esfandiary, Selbst. German squad. And I learnt so much from them!
